Approch

Safety first

Safety & community rules

Approch is built for shy people and overthinkers, but safety always comes first. Please follow these rules on the app and when meeting in real life.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

01Community rules

  • Respect boundaries and consent at all times
  • No harassment, bullying, stalking or threats
  • No hate speech, discrimination or abusive language
  • No nudity, pornography or explicit sexual content
  • No spam, scams or attempts to trick other users
  • Do not share other people's private information without permission

02Using pings safely

  • Only ping people you genuinely want to connect with
  • Accept pings only from people you feel comfortable talking to
  • Not interested? Send a Smile, decline or simply ignore. You owe no explanation

03Blocking and reporting

Use these tools whenever you feel unsafe or uncomfortable:

  • Block someone and they can no longer see you, ping you or message you
  • Report profiles, messages or behaviour that breaks our rules or feels unsafe
  • We review reports within 24 hours and may warn, suspend or permanently ban accounts

04Meeting in real life

  • Meet in a public place with other people around
  • Arrange your own transport and keep your phone charged
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going
  • Leave whenever you feel uncomfortable. You don't have to stay
  • Avoid sharing your home address too early

05Under 18s

Approch is only for adults aged 18 and older. If we discover that a user is under 18, we close the account and remove related data.

06If you need help

If your safety is at risk, contact local emergency services first (in South Africa: police 10111, or 112 from a mobile). You can also reach us about safety issues at info@malegatechnovation.co.za.
